KNOF is a social enterprise whose main mission is development and production of solutions that reduce or prevent the generation of waste.

At Knof, we encourage companies and individuals to adopt more sustainable forms of operation, behavior and business through social innovation, reuse and recycling.

Our solutions include support in implementing sustainability strategies from concept to realization, designing sustainable business models, material loops and products in practice, not just on paper. We design, test and implement concrete solutions in the supportive environment of the largest circular laboratory in Slovenia.

 

Konkretne rešitve snujemo in testiramo v podpornem okolju krožnega laboratorija CIRCULAR LAB.

It is located in Krško on 3,000 m2 in the form of a testing field where we develop circular business models, look for solutions to reuse industrial waste, design products to reduce waste. We involve a wide network of partners in the development, including public institutions, research institutions, larger and smaller companies and individuals in the field of design.

KNOF circular laboratory consists of:

  • project Office
  • research and development department: Fablab for testing characteristics of different waste materials for reusing or recycling
  • technical workshops: carpentry, sewing workshop

In the field of circular economy, we have successful developing cooperation with a number of companies, we cooperate with Kostak d.d. on the reduction of bulky waste and the extraction of valuable secondary materials, with Beti d.d. on the recycling of their technological plastic scrap and on the development of new circular products from yarn waste. We also cooperate with public institutions and municipalities, e.g. We prepared a decoration made of 100% recycled plastic in the city centre within the LUV FEST festival for the Ljubljana Tourism Institute.

 

In the year 2023 we have established a CIRCULAR FACTORY in a new industrial complex in Skopice village, where we started with production of recycled materials from wood and plastic on industrial level.

The purpose of circular factory is to produce semi-products from recycled material for furniture and construction industry and small-series end-products from recycled materials, focusing on furniture and interior design for home or office use.

Currently we are focusing on recycling plastic and wood technological leftowers of local companies from Slovenia.

 

KNOF offers also products and services for CONSCIOUS CUSTOMERS. Krško is home to the largest reuse boutique, Stara šola, and the largest reused furniture Salon, with a wide selection of clothing, furniture and other items out of various brands, from valuable , unique vintage pieces to affordable gently used items.

Besides our largest reuse boutique in Krško we have stores in other parts of Slovenia, working under the name of KNOF or Stara šola: in Sevnica, Brežice, Litija and Novo mesto. Our curated collection of items is available also online on collection.knof.si

 

In partnership with others KNOF still promotes SUPPORT BUSINESS PROGRAME, which is aiming at conscious designers and entrepreneurs, and offers:, ki ponuja:

  • incubator – a supportive environment for testing and operating on the market even before the opening of the company
  • mentoring for the development and launch of a sustainable business idea
  • sharing of FABLAB equipment – ​​CNC router, laser cutter, engraver, 3D printer, plastic recycling machines
  • coworking space
