Beyond Green
bridging Sustainable Innovation, design and industry
international networking event | 23th January , 2024 | MAO, Fužine Castle, Ljubljana
There are already many green and innovative solutions from industrial designers and research institutes.
Why are companies not implementing them? Do they even know about them or is it just too expensive?
Our event’s primary goal is to bridge the gap between innovation and industry, fostering collaborative partnerships among designers, research institutions, and companies. We aim to facilitate the practical application of sustainable and innovative solutions, not only within laboratories or studios but also in real-world scenarios.
Main focus: eco-design of secondary materials (waste)
The "Beyond Green" event caters to designers, research institutions, and industry players who aspire to lead their respective sectors towards a circular economy through innovation.
Have you ever heard about fruit leather? It can be a healthy snack or a substitute for animal leather for your purse or shoes. But why is this important?
Fort he past few years, we are listening to IPCC about climate change and global warming. We hear the news about forest fires, floods and polluted air due to the CO2 emissions. We have disrupted supply chains because of the natural catastrophies or geopolitical events..
How many companies were impacted by them? What about the new sustainability reporting directive? Or Carbon pricing/tax? All of them are incentives for change. But the best motivation is not just a stick. We need a carrot also. And what can be the better carrot than making a positive impact and be environmentaly, socially and economically sustainable on the long run? We can achieve this with »clean« energy, substituting fossil fuels, carbon pricing but also with changing how we operate in the industry.
One of the steps there is ecodesign.
The event is organized as part of the "Communities go circular" project, which is co-financed by the EU, Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values program (CERV).
The project holder is the association Zelena Istra, with project partners :
Zelena Akcija (Zero Waste Croatia), Zero Waste Italy, Ekologi brez meja (Ecologists without borders) and Knof.
Partners in the organization and implementation of the event:
- SRIP Krožno gospodarstvo
- Beti d.o.o.
- Center za kreativnost – CZK
The event is designed as a short conference presenting good practices in the implementation of sustainable solutions in collaboration with designers, research institutes and industry, a networking event for stakeholders, an exhibition of existing solutions and a catalogue of suppliers.
- Designers, research institutes, private institutes and design companies as »suppliers«
- Enterprises, start-ups, etc. as »buyers«
- Ministry, institutions that finance collaboration projects between industrial designers, research institutes and companies
